Alma Verde

In the heart of the tropical cloud forest, surrounded by nature, I found myself in a silent world of living green. It was a beautiful experience, standing amidst the clouds and forest, with the most prominent colour around being the pure, rich green of the trees and plants. Each leaf was still, it was amazing to feel part of this extraordinary ecosystem up in the cloud forest.

Heading up into the cloud forest.

As I rode up through the mountains, the wet mist set in, a reminder of being high up in the clouds. The air was thick with humidity, and I felt inspired by the wilderness and solitude. A calming silence kept me company, and gave me a sense of freedom and being far removed from daily life. There was only the occasional call of distant birds echoing through the trees, their songs weaving through the tranquility like a soft melody.

While taking the photo 'Alma Verde,' I noticed the greenery growing out of the mountainside with the light hitting it just right. A break in the mist allowed sunlight to highlight the leaves, almost like they were in a spotlight. The moment felt peaceful, with the mist and light creating a simple but striking contrast that captured the natural beauty of the tropical cloud forest.

However, the serene feeling was accompanied by an ever-growing awareness of the approaching rains. The sky, once a soft grey, was beginning to darken, hinting at the torrential downpour that often sweeps through the mountains at this time of year. I knew it was time to make my way down the mountain before the storm unleashed. The cloud forest can be unforgiving when the heavens open.

As I captured this mist filled mystical place, I got lost taking photos. “Alma Verde” is a homage to the wild, and of the vibrant life that thrives on this beautiful place we call earth.
